About us

Small Cars.
Big Policy Impact.

The Microcar Coalition unites European manufacturers of light electric vehicles (L7e class) to give microcars a voice in EU mobility policy. Our goal is to ensure that these efficient, space-saving and emission-free vehicles are finally recognized in Europe’s regulations and funding programs — because real sustainability starts small.

Driving fair recognition for microcars in Europe.

We believe that microcars are the missing link in the EU’s mobility transition. They use up to 80 % less energy than regular electric cars, take half the space, and are designed for real urban use — short distances, low consumption, and minimal footprint. Our mission is to make sure that European laws and incentives finally reflect that. By including L7e vehicles in CO₂ fleet targets, fleet electrification programs, and funding schemes, Europe can reach its climate goals faster and fairer.

A call for fair and effective EU regulation.

The Microcar Coalition advocates for four key policy changes. First, we call for the integration of L7e vehicles into EU CO₂ fleet regulation so that microcars count toward manufacturers’ emission targets. Second, we seek fair access to EU funding by ensuring microcars are included in all electric vehicle subsidy and fleet programs. Third, we urge the inclusion of L7e vehicles in corporate fleet decarbonization strategies, allowing their use in company and public fleets. Finally, we advocate for industrial resilience by prioritizing EU-made microcars to strengthen European innovation, competitiveness, and supply chains.

Born from innovation. United by purpose.

The Microcar Coalition was founded by leading European manufacturers — including Microlino — to address a critical policy gap. Although microcars are ready for mass production and made in Europe, they remain excluded from EU legislation. Rather than waiting for change, we came together to make our voice heard: promoting a new category of clean, compact mobility that supports Europe’s climate, industry, and citizens.
